ADESA Inc. and Auction Pipeline Inc. are combining their online resources to give dealers access to more vehicles and more information.
Last month the two companies kicked off the initiative, called Plus, by combining their vehicles listed for sale in a single database, says Warren Byrd, executive vice president of corporate development at ADESA.
Byrd says the combined listing creates a bigger pool of inventory that dealers can access in one online channel. It also gives sellers’ vehicles wider exposure in one place. The combined listing is expected to list about 70,000 vehicles.
“ADESA and Auction Pipeline have come together to work in a cooperative effort and spirit for our mutual best interest, but more importantly for the best interest of our customers,” Byrd says. “It makes it easier for dealers to see the inventory in one place and buy that car.”
When dealers visit an auction site that uses auctionpipeline.com or adesa.com, they see vehicles listed for sale at ADESA’s 47 U.S. auction sites and 27 independently owned auction houses that use AuctionPipeline. Registered dealers who log onto either site can search for vehicles by make and model.
ADESA’s Byrd says his company and Auction Pipeline will join forces on other initiatives this year. He says the two companies will create a combined market report that will give dealers information about vehicle selling prices.
Also this year, dealers who log onto either ADESA’s LiveBlock or Auction Pipeline’s Pipeline Simulcast channels — both of which enable dealers to participate in physical sales remotely through the Internet — will have access to vehicles offered on both sites.
