It’s time to make known where your allegiance lies (anonymously of course). Will you align yourself with Team Hammer, Bullet, benny, or Other?
For a description of the challenge and a bio of the contenders click here. Be sure to read below to get a training update.
Team Hammer
Brasher’s Idaho
- YTD Training Miles
- Swim .1 mi
- Bike 98.7 mi
- Run 5.1 mi
- How’s the training?: “Training is going well. It’s a lot more time than I anticipated, so balancing work, family time and training has been a challenge. It has forced me to be a lot more organized with my time. I’m still a little tentative running on my ankle after the surgery (swimming and biking has been great), but I am getting to the comfort level that I need to be at. I am excited about the race. Again, the running part has me a little concerned, but I am confident that the swim and bike portions will go well. Why should you vote for me? I would only vote for me if I was a gambling man that liked to play the odds, and I am, so vote for me.”

Brasher’s Auto Auctions- YTD Training Miles
- Swim 2.48 mi
- Bike 82 mi
- Run 19.6 mi
- How’s the training?: ”January 1st marked four months from race day and that was the date I was going to start following a more disciplined training schedule. I’m a little off track so far but surprisingly not too worried. I have some nervous energy, but mostly I’m just excited for race-day. I still have plenty of work to do, but I’m fairly confident it will all work out. My goal has been to focus more on the bike and I’ve done OK on an indoor trainer, but I need to get out for some longer rides. If you vote for me I will make all of your wildest dreams come true.”
Team Bullet
Brasher’s Northwest- YTD Training Miles
- Swim 2.2 mi
- Bike 173.5 mi
- Run 39 mi
- How’s the training?:
Swim lessons: $39
Triathlon training book: $55
Blaming the Brasher Boys for all this Insanity: Priceless
“I eased up significantly on my training in the last quarter of 2009 however in the middle of December I hit the training pretty hard. I am following a little different training program than I am used to. Normally my training consists of running or biking as hard as I can all the time which would leave me tired and worn out every day. I am now monitoring my heart rate (due to the distance of this triathlon) which has slowed me down a little, however it has allowed me to go further in training without leaving myself so tired and exhausted. I am feeling pretty good about where I am in my training program as far as the bike and run however the swim still has me concerned. Like I have always said I swim like a rock!
I heard a quote once which explains why you should pick the old guy to win: “you have to go into the jungle, find the lion, & spit in his face…then shoot him (hence the name Bullet). You guys are not good enough to win on talent alone…you have to WANT IT”. Someone from our group might beat me but they are going to have to bleed to do it!!!!!!! So vote for me because I AM your wildest dream!”
Non-Brasher employee contenders (we won’t hold that against them):
- Peter Brasher – George Washington University
- Tom Brasher – Brasher’s Insurance
- Logan Sheppard – Sheppard and Associates Insurance
- Heath Sheppard – Sheppard and Associates Insurance
- Austin Bowden – Sheppard and Associates Insurance
- Rusty Loveless – RJL Wire Connections, City of Lehi Fireman/EMT
- James Player

Did you miss these posts?:

If it were me, I would just hit the lion right between the eyes with a HAMMER!!!!!!
What are you doing in the jungle with a HAMMER????
Because everyone knows that a HAMMER is much more effective than a bullet!!!!
SHO NUF! (enough said, but i will say more…)i eat bullets for breakfast, I spit nails into walls, I don’t need a hammer, and benny sounds like something i brush my teeth with, when i feel like it! Lion? I have three of them, they came to me for protection….
I heard Mark is using a swim suit that is illegal. He is also using pig grease on his body to keep him afloat. He also is using Flubber in his tennis shoes that make him run faster and jump higher. When you know all of these advantages, you know he will win. You did not ask in your questionaire if he is legal. You might also have to check to see if he has been hanging out with Alex Rodriquez or Mark Mcquire.
I have a conflict of interest here! My vote would be that all three shall cross the finish line at once and fall over from old age! Good luck gentlemen!
I support the cause and support all of you and your hard work.
The best of luck to you all.
Don’t hurt them too bad BULLETT.
I think you all are crazy. But I am voting for BENNY all the way!
I wish all of you the best of luck….in trying to beat my Bullet!!!!!! and just an FYI….I would be watchin your back with Russ…this boy is training hard!!! go get em Bro!!!! Love ya both!
Since I know all the players involved, I think I can speak from an expert’s point of view (whatever, Dude). That said; knowing his work ethic, his proximity (and length of time therein) to the hallowed ground of the late, great Steve Prefontaine and the fact that he also loves sushi to a fault (I know, I know, so do the others, but this is MY comment), I have to put my funny money on the Bullet. This is not to say that I won’t be rooting for the remainder of this group, I only wish I wasn’t such a sloth these days and that I could get inspired enough to go out and compete with you all. Rock On!
I’m going with the GIMP! (hammer)
I’m puttin my money on the bullet!!! Heck Ive seen what this guy can do and he’ll whoop you all!!! By the end of the day the hammers gonna be in the ground with the nail and when that happens the bullets the only thing that can get you out
Well in other words, GO UNCLE MARK!!!
Sho’Nuf For real? Do you have any idea who this guy is? If he is anything like the real thing, you guys best recognize who you are up against…I am THE LAST DRAGON, but I am still afraid of the Sho’Nuf. PS, you have a cool race blog. Who is who? these other guys aren’t specified…
Who really cares about Team Other anyway?
Hammer, last time you were here I had to carry you out of the field. How are you going to run. How about you run these guy down and throw them in the boxing ring for a minute. Let’s get real here, Tom is going to kick your you know whats. He rides a single speed.
WELL I GOT A DILEMMA SO I AM VOTING FOR BULLET AND BENNY……… I WOULD NEVER DREAM OF DOING THE STUFF YOU GUYS DO GOOD LUCK GUYS
My vote is for the gimp, I mean limp, no I mean “hammer”less. Although he’s stands a bit taller than most, I picture a race like the turtle and the hare, with the Hammer being the hare! We’ll see what happens at the finish line. Regardless of the physical race, the Hammer can sure “talk” a good race!!
The Hammer has only swam .1 miles YTD!!??? .1 miles!!?? Really? I do that in my bathtub. Hammer = loss.
Some advice for the HAMMER and BULLET on this little race. START OUT FAST AND GRADUALLY INCREASE YOUR PACE. Good luck guys.
